Knowing Where to Stop

From restoration to grading, done with care.

Our standard work is non-invasive: cleaning and minor wear, with nothing added to the card. Colour touch-up is an optional extra with clear limits — you choose it when you send a quote.

What we can assess

  • Surface dirt and residue
  • Light surface scratches
  • Minor dents and dings
  • Holo surface wear
  • Small bends or warping

Optional colour touch-up

  • Back Colour Touch-Up: Available for all Pokémon cards, including Chinese, English and Japanese cards. White spots up to 1mm only.
  • Front Colour Touch-Up: Only available for vintage Pokémon cards with solid yellow borders. White spots up to 1mm only.

What we will not do

  • Add colour you didn't choose, or beyond small white spots
  • Repaint artwork or large areas
  • Trim or cut card edges
  • Apply coatings or sealants
  • Fill missing card stock

Grading companies make their own decisions about cleaned, restored or touched-up cards. We cannot promise a grade; we can explain the work and its limits before you choose.

About YIAN

A UK workshop for Pokémon card restoration

YIAN restores Pokémon trading cards by mail from a small workshop in Tonbridge, Kent. Collectors send two photos for a free quote, and we say honestly what is likely to improve before anything is paid. Card Restoration is a fixed £30 per card; Kids Free restores eligible children's cards with no service fee.

Our standard work is non-invasive: cleaning surface dirt and residue and easing minor dents, bends and holo wear, with nothing added to the card. Colour touch-up for tiny white spots is an option you choose. Every card is photographed on arrival, assessed in hand before any work, and documented at each step in a Before and After report.

Whether a restored card still feels original in your own collection is your call. Graders such as PSA, BGS and CGC apply their own standards, so we tell you before any work which steps suit grading and which carry a risk, and we never promise a grade.

  • £30 per card, free photo quote, pay only after we confirm
  • Assessed in hand before any work; nothing starts until you approve
  • Every stage photographed, with a Before and After report
  • Insured tracked return, up to Special Delivery Guaranteed (£750)

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Short answers about damage, timing, pricing, and grading.

What types of damage can you fix?

We can assess surface dirt, light scratches, holo wear, minor dents, and small bends. What can improve depends on the card’s condition, so we review it before agreeing to any work. If you choose it with your quote, we can also touch up small white spots (up to 1mm) with colour: on the back of any Pokémon card, and on the front of vintage cards with solid yellow borders. It's included in the price.

Deep creases, larger ink loss, water staining, and structural damage may have limited improvement potential. We will explain those limits before you decide.

What are the risks of grading a restored card?

Restoration does not guarantee a numerical grade. PSA, BGS, CGC, and other graders apply their own criteria and make the final decision for each card.

Before choosing restoration, consider whether a grading submission is still right for your card. We can explain the work and its limits, but cannot predict or control a grader’s outcome.

How does shipping insurance work?

You send your cards to us with a tracked service and add the tracking number on your parcel page; for valuable cards, choose a service with enough insurance cover. Return delivery is chosen when you pay, or once your cards are ready to come back, from Royal Mail Tracked 48 up to Special Delivery Guaranteed, which is insured to £750.

How long does restoration take?

Timing depends on the card and the work. We confirm the expected turnaround with your in-hand assessment, and every step appears on your quote page as it happens.

How is pricing calculated?

Card Restoration is a fixed £30 per card, including any colour touch-up you choose. Kids Free has no service fee for eligible requests — we confirm eligibility from your photos. You pay securely online only after we've confirmed we can help, and return delivery is paid then too, or once your cards are ready to come back. If the in-hand assessment changes anything, we ask before any work: approve the plan, or decline and get the service price back minus a £12 assessment fee, with your card returned unchanged.

What if I'm not happy with the results?

Contact us with your concern and the workshop will review the condition record and completed work with you. We will explain the options based on the original agreed scope.

How do I get a quote?

Choose a package and send two photos, the front and the back of the card, with a short note on what it's for. No account is needed. We reply within two working days and tell you whether we can help and the price before you pay anything.

What happens when my card arrives?

We photograph the card on arrival and assess it in hand. No work starts until that assessment is done and you've approved the plan. If the card needs something different from what we quoted, we ask you first.

What is colour touch-up and when is it offered?

An optional extra that adds ink to cover small white spots, up to 1mm: on the back of any Pokémon card, including Chinese, English and Japanese cards, and on the front only of vintage cards with solid yellow borders. You choose it with your quote and it's included in the price.

A touch-up can't be guaranteed to be invisible and may not be reversible, and graders are more likely to flag added colour. If you plan to grade the card, think carefully before choosing it.

Does restoration make a card “altered”?

It depends who is asking. For your own collection, whether a cleaned or restored card still feels original is your choice. For grading, each company applies its own standards: cleaning, restoration and touch-ups can be treated as alteration, and some work is more likely to be flagged than other work.

We tell you before any work which steps suit grading and which carry a risk, and we never hide work from a grader. Check the grading company's current policy before you submit.

What is Kids Free?

Our package for young collectors: we restore an eligible child's Pokémon card with no service fee. We confirm eligibility from your photos before anything is due. Postage is still paid by you: you send the card to us tracked and choose return delivery.

Can I cancel after I've paid?

Yes, within 14 days as a consumer. Before your cards reach us you get a full refund. After we've assessed them in hand, we refund the service price less the £12 assessment fee per card and return them unchanged. Once you've approved the plan and work has started, we refund only for work not yet done.

Start with a clear conversation.
